This place has my whole heart. Hand in Hand isn’t your average daycare—it’s a beautiful, inclusive program that welcomes children of all abilities. The classrooms are bright and cheerful, the staff is incredibly trained (we’re talking therapists on-site), and the outdoor space is just dreamy. Think butterfly gardens, walking trails, and wide-open green space for the kids to run and explore.

Cohn ECLC is housed in the Levite Jewish Community Center, and it’s incredibly welcoming—open to families of all backgrounds. What really impressed me is their emphasis on community and teaching kids to care for the world around them (they call it tikkun olam—love that!). Plus, their teacher-to-child ratios are some of the best I’ve seen.

It’s cozy, diverse, and full of heart. Also, their weekly Shabbat celebrations are the sweetest—storytelling, music, and homemade challah? Yes, please.

4. Vestavia Hills Baptist Church Child Development Center

This one came highly recommended by a neighbor, and it’s easy to see why. Vestavia Baptist’s daycare has been around forever and offers care from 8 weeks to pre-K. The curriculum is rooted in Christian values, and they use tried-and-true programs like WEE Learn and “Handwriting Without Tears.”

Their classrooms are super clean and organized, they’ve got separate playgrounds for different ages, and I love that they do chapel and music every week. Oh—and they throw the cutest events for parents like “Donuts with Dad” and “Muffins with Mom.”
